Photos and company bios of the seven CCA-winning companies
From the many worthy entries, the judges came up with seven companies they believe deserved a Wisconsin Corporate Citizenship Award. (click here to read the issue's article.) These exceptional companies were honored at a banquet April 17. The following are photos taken at the banquet, plus additional information about the winning companies.
Ellenbecker Investment Group
"This Pewaukee firm, founded by Karen Ellenbecker, is remarkable for its community outreach, and community support. Most notable is Ellenbecker’s creation of two charities. ‘Reconstruct’ is an organization that provides rehab alternatives for fathers who are incarcerated, and ‘Women Connected,’ a giving circle that awards grants in the Waukesha County area."
Note: Karen Ellenbecker was not able to attend the event, so accepting on her behalf was Laurie Arendt, Editor of Corporate Report.
Industrial Towel and Uniform
"“New Berlin-based Industrial Towel and Uniform operates all its processing facilities – from Wisconsin to South Carolina – under the belief that environmental responsibility is not optional. In addition, the company maintains a ‘Straight Up!” business philosophy, dedicated to being honest and ethical in all business dealings."
Professional Plating
"Professional Plating, located in Brillion, Wisconsin – a little bit south of Green Bay – takes its role as a major employer in one of our smaller towns very seriously. PPI employees participate in community service in a variety of ways, from ‘Coats for Kids,’ to Food Drives to care package donations for our military personnel. The company is also one of the newest participants in the state’s ‘Green Tier’ program."
K-Tech Kleening Systems
"Launched in 1975, K-Tech Kleening Systems today takes a leadership role in preserving the environment and energy resources. In 2006, the company implemented it ‘Be Green’ program, designed to help their customers reduce the use of harmful products, save energy, and help create a more sustainable world. The K-Tech even uses new trucks in it operations – trucks that operate on soy-based diesel fuel. I am also pleased to share with you that K-Tech Kleening is also the recipient of the Smith & Gesteland “Family Business of the Year Award."
Deloitte LLP
"Deloitte LLP has received recognition from many organizations for fostering a supportive culture, for their dedication to women's advancement, diversity and inclusion, professional development and workplace flexibility. Today we join those organizations. The company offers employees numerous programs that help navigate a changing workplace, including a strong parental leave program, and tuition reimbursement. The Milwaukee office in particular offers a dynamic volunteer program, with staff members offering pro bono service opportunities in the wider community."
TDS
"Volunteering is nothing new for the employees at TDS in Madison. But this year, all fulltime employees receive four hours of paid time off each quarter to do just that – give of themselves. Whether its ringing bells for the Salvation Army, delivering ‘Meals on Wheels,’ or serving as volunteer firefighters, TDS staff live out the idea that it’s important to invest in our communities. TDS also invests in its people, through diversity programming and benefit programs that start on the first day of a new hire’s employment."
Plum Creek Timber
"Our final honoree today is Wisconsin’s largest land-owner. Plum Creek Timber has more than three-hundred thousand acres in its care in our state. The company was recently named to the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index, an honor given to roughly three hundred of the world most sustainability-driven companies. Plum Creek maintains an extensive internship program, which enables UW-Stevens Point students the opportunity to train with experienced foresters, and gain hands-on experience."
