Logistics Health awarded top employer award

The Department of Defense has announced the recipients of the 2010 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, the highest recognition given by the U.S. Government to employers for their outstanding support of their employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve. La Crosse-based Logistics Health Incorporated was among the 15 winners in the country and the only Wisconsin business chosen from a field of more than 2,500 nominees.

“As an organization, we decided long ago that no employee of LHI who is called to active duty should ever have to worry about their job back home,” explains Logistics Health CEO Don Weber. “We want them to know we are behind them 100 percent, that their seniority, salary and benefits will not be compromised in any way while they are in service to our country. Simply put, we do it because it is the right thing to do.”

The national award comes in the wake of other Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve state awards. LHI was one of nine
recipients of the Wisconsin “Above and Beyond” awards as well as the top prize winner in the state with the “Pro Patria” award. Both were presented to LHI this past spring.

Thrive creates Capital Connections

One of the barriers that companies and communities face when seeking economic development funding is the lack of concise, accessible information — there just isn’t time to identify and understand each of the hundreds of programs that are available.

To address this barrier, Thrive has created a comprehensive inventory of financial tools that are available for businesses and economic development projects in the 8-county Mad-ison Region. The inventory includes over 350 financial programs available at the federal, state and local levels to businesses, communities, and nonprofits.

The inventory includes a brief description and basic eligibility criteria for each program. It also includes typical program terms such as loan or grant amounts, loan amortization periods, interest rates and contact information.

The Capital Connections Inventory is freely available as an online PDF or download. Printed, bound copies are free to investors, and  available for a fee to the public.
